VISION

Korean Basketball Association of America (formerly: North American Basketball Association (KNABA)) is a dedicated non-profit organization aspiring to bring the best platform for development of Korean Basketball in the Western Hemisphere. Currently, it includes United States and Canada but is very open to teams from the rest of the continent.
The staff is made up of basketball organizers and players throughout the nation including Canada. We are striving to use KNABA as the launching organization to find and showcase prominent players with Korean heritage. Moreover, we hope our annual “Nationals” tournament will become the most sought after tournament in order to gain attention from various outlets, including KBL, Korean Basketball League, the premier league in South Korea.
Each summer in June holiday is our tournament and the teams consists of qualified players that represent each city. We have had up to 16 teams participate and the tournament is held from Friday to Sunday at a host city chosen by the organization. We hope that we can help and assist our next generation of basketball players to develop and play at the highest level, whatever it may be for that player.

Legacy of JOhn Han
KBAA's inception as KNABA (Korean North American Basketball Association) is like many other organizations, built on the vision and drive of a small group of people. However, among that group there was one that had the passion to lead and forge KBAA as it is known today. John Han was the driving force behind KNABA, working hard to make time away from his family of three kids and wife, to lead a band of brothers from around the United States who shared John's passion and commitment to create an organization to enhance the level of play among Korean American basketball players and forging a platform from which players can connect with other brothers throughout North America through basketball. John Han was also passionate in coaching his Orange County team, whose five consecutive Championships in KNABA/KO is still stuff of legend. Unfortunately, John was taken from us too early due to a car accident in 2015, when he was driving to attend, what else, a Korean Sports Organizational meeting. The void he leaves can never be replaced, but KNABA has dedicated itself to continue his work and forge ahead to elevate KNABA to become that which John had envisioned. John was a man of faith, family and basketball, and we hope that he is looking down on us and our work from the basketball court up above. He will never be forgotten.
